18 Mar CREATION OF 45 CONSTITUENCIES THREAT OF PEACE
The president of the world peace volunteers (WPV) Mr. seth Osei Acheampong has said the creation of 45 constituencies was a threat to the upcoming peaceful December polls. He said the country was sitting on a time bomb considering the limited time left for the conduct of the December polls. Mr. Acheampong make this remark in a press statement. He added that is was very worrying for the national Democratic Congress to go ahead with the election with their parliamentary candidate for the yet-to-be crated constituencies. The organization was of the belief that with upcoming activities such as the opening of the votes register for verification and opening of nomination for political parties it was the same EC which was already exhausted with respect to its roles and function to supervise the elections of the parliamentary candidate by their political parties in the new constituencies. This he said should be avoided since it will put a lot of stress on the EC. Mr. Acheampong however advise that the heeds to the call by the civil society, organization, religion and all well meaning Ghanaians to withdraw the legislative instruction form parliament for the creation of the new constituency. The EC of Ghana is a very respectable institution with creditability both within and abroad and so should not do anything to discredit itself and bring about any violence especially as we approach the December polls he added.
