18 Mar WORLD PEACE VOLUNTEERS ABHORS NDC, NPP DIRTY POLITICS

The World Peace Volunteers (WPV), a civil society organisation aimed at sensitising the public on the need to ensure a peaceful election, has appealed to politicians to desist from making unsavory remarks that may pose a threat to the peace and stability in the country.
According to the group, such remarks had the tendency of inciting the public, especially the youth, to engage in violent activities that might affect the peace in the country.
Addressing newsmen in Accra, the President of (WPV) Mr. Seth Acheampong urged the media to also desist from further denigration any form of dialogue which might create political tension.
Mr. Acheampong accused leadership of the two main political parties in the country, the National Democratic Congress (Ndc) and the New Patriotic Party (Npp) of not making any efforts to educate the people on the need for a peaceful election.
“as we move around the length and breadth of the country preaching peace and encouraging the masses to ensure a violent free election, the two parties continue to use harsh and abusive words at each other, diminishing the confidence of many in the upcoming election,” he said.
Touching on the running story involving Mr. Alfred Woyome, financier of the NDC, Mr. Acheampong advised the two parties to deliberate on the issue without massaging the fact just to score political points.
“Judging from the way both parties are throwing accusations at each other for the loss caused the state, the police, which is the only mediator in this case, must observe their duties professionally, to forestall any insurgence,” he said.
